Best of.... Places to eat in Texas

I've lived all over Texas: Austin, Dallas, Houston, Nacogdoches, Alice, and Atlanta. In 41 years, I've had the pleasure of eating at many places around the state and I thought I would post here on a few of my favorites. If you ever get a chance to experience any of these I'm sure you will agree that they are outstanding.

South Texas:

Kings Inn tops the list as the VERY best Seafood restaurant and my most favorite. Biggest fried Shrimp, Best Fried Salt water fish, Onion Rings, Avacado Salad, and the Worlds greatest Tartar Sauce. If you are ever near Corpus Christi, this is a MUST stop. It's been around for 80+ years and family run place.

If you like mexican sweet bread, cookies, doughnuts, etc. this place is it. They also happen to have the best Breakfast Taco's going. Flour Tortilla's are fresh and Hot sauce is damn good too.

The original Butcher paper BBQ place. It's been around for 40+ years.

East Texas Area:

This is the best catfish around! Period! It's in the middle of no-where, but it's damn good.

Probably the best hamburgers in Texas. It's a true dive, but if you're looking for a burger, fries, and a chocolate shake, this place cannot be beat.

One of my all time favorites. Very Good Fried Shrimp, Coleslaw, and best Hushpuppies. A must stop if you are heading to Caddo Lake.
Mexican food is decent, but the marg's will knock you on your ass. Great Fajita's!
While attending SFA, this place was a main staple in my diet. Very good Bacon Cheeseburgers and homemade fries. Worth a stop if you're ever in Nac-a-nowhere.
In my opinion, this is in the top 3 best BBQ joints in Texas. Brisket, Sausage, it's all good here.

Austin Area:

Best Chili Dog in Texas. My fraternity brother, Brendan, works as a bartender here. Brendan has a very strong pour if you looking for a stiff drink too.

One of the top 3 best burgers in Texas. I love this greasy spoon. They also make a homemade Limeade, which is a must.

When I lived in Austin, my roommate, Pete and I used to hit this place every Saturday morning before our round of Disk golf. Great Breakfast Taco's!

Some like, some don't... I think this place is the epitome of TEXMEX. Good Margarita's too.

If you want a true Margarita on the rocks, ask for a Silver Train. Good Mexican food and stiff drinks. Very Popular local hangout.

Not the best BBQ, but it's good and it's all you can eat. I like this place because of what it is, BYOB, and it's Texas Nostalgia at it's finest.

This location has some good BBQ! Not all Rudy's are created the same, but the Round Rock locale is Muy Bueno~ Ask for the Moist Brisket and Spicy Chopped Beef.

Houston Area:

Dallas Area: ( see previous post )

Best of.... Places to eat in Dallas/Fort Worth

Below is a list of my favorite places to eat in Dallas/Fort Worth. Some are true hole-in-the-wall types, but I really enjoy them and hope you will give them a try and let me know what you think.

Watch the YouTube Video - click here !!!!

Simply the best Pizza I've ever had. This place makes a stiff drink, but the Pizza is awesome.

This is what "Mexican" food is. Best in Dallas, and probably top 3 in the state.
If you like homemade soul cookin, this place is it. Breakfast, Omlettes, Pancakes, Turkey Club sandwich, cupcakes, etc.. good stuff here! Not open on Sunday's and get there early on Saturday.
Rivals as the Best Burger in Texas! I'm a hamburger freak, and Kincaid's is probably the best I've had. Simply Awesome!
Get the stuffed Baked Potato with chopped beef - Loaded! Trust me on this.... The other stuff is good too. Also, outstanding burger if your not in the BBQ mood.
Chicken Fried at it's finest. If you want a Chicken Fried Steak or Fried Chicken, Babe's is about as good as it gets. Comes with Mashed taters, Cream Corn, Green Beans, and Homemade biscuits with honey and molasses.
Good BBQ and Good Burgers. Kind of a drive, but if your site seeing for Dion's house, this is a good stop.
This is a college atmosphere ( mean green ) kind of taco dive that stay's open late. They specialize in Breakfast Taco's/Burritos. Decent stop if you in downtown Denton early morning.
This place is a diabetic's nightmare. Homemade custard ( ice cream ), with homemade Brownies and cakes and loaded with toppings.
Homecookin in Dallas. Food is great, but the place can feel constricted and get's busy. Best to eat early at this place.
Best for Sunday Brunch. Homemade bread and everything is fresh and homemade. Tops for breakfast items.
If you're looking for that "all-around" bad ass place to take your friends for a special dinner, this place is great. Prime Rib is what I recommend! Wine is good and might see a celebrity.
My friend Becky introduced me to this place. Get the frozen Lasagna and take it home Feeds 5-6. They have italian meats, canoli's and pretty good sandwiches.
I like the sushi here. Try the Sexy Mama roll.
Home cookin Breakfast place. It's really big place and it packs em in. Get here early!
This place is famous for serving up Bacon/Egg/Sausage Sandwiches to Dallas Cowboys. It's the best breakfast sandwich you'll eat. It's also a heart attack in waiting. Got to try this place if you've never had it.

I'll continue to update the list. Of course there are more great places in Dallas, but these are the places I find myself going back to over and over again.
